Pilots of the Caribbean 3: AAL 822 – PAP to MIA

It’s time for our way back to Miami. After staying in Port-au-Prince for one day, we’re flying on American Airlines flight 822 back to the land of Crockett and Tubbs.

Take-off in Port-au-Prince is on runway 10. We’ll turn left and enter our flightplan over Cap Haitien. Before landing on runway 12 in Miami (this time without a thunderstorm), we’ll be overflying Andros Island in the Bahamas.

They have a very 50’s-style terminal building here in PAP.

The 767 is a very beautiful aircraft. In my opinion it has the right proportions and the nose section is very distinct.

A video from take-off.

There are a lot of mountains in the vicinity. But the 767 has a very good climbing performance, so that’s no problem for us.

It’s almost overcast as we’re closing in to Cap Haitien.

The cruise flight was relatively uneventful. So here we’re descending through the clouds to Miami.

We’re back at gate D16. Those GE’s are some powerful engines.

This marks the end of today’s flight report.

Stay tuned for the next flight. I’m not sure yet, but I’ll probably take the LAN Cargo 767 as LCO1205 to Guatemala City.

  1. Yet another great report! That LAN idea sounds nice, also it would go to less covered grounds which is nice. Looking forward for the next report whatever it is!

    Cheers.

    • Thanks Sveinn. Don’t know when I’ll get the chance to fly next time though. I’m currently studying for my last exams and FINALLY the summer came to Northern Europe! So I have to enjoy the sun a little and be outside as much as possible 😉

    • Thanks Al. I can really recommend the Zinertek HD VC-Texture upgrade for the Level-D. They are even better than the freeware VC-upgrade and make this bird even more enjoyable. I really hope that Level-D will publish their 757 in the near future, ideally for FS9 too. We still need a good 757 for the sim, I’m not fully satisfied with the outdated PSS and CaptainSim or Qualitywings looks nice but they lack a lot in regards to systems simulation.
