Amsterdam-bound: TRA 744 – ACE to AMS

Today I made it back to continental Europe! On Transavia flight 744 from Lanzarote to Amsterdam Schiphol Airport. This Boeing 737-800 journey was significantly longer than our last 8 minute-trip.
I flew via Amsterdam in reality last week and I really love this airport. Also love KLM, on which I flew on. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that I have some Dutch blood running in my veins, I don’t know.

Anyway, here’s the flight info for today.

The routing: This time actually it is a routing and not just a geographical overview. Take-off will be from runway 03 in Lanzarote, following SID KORA2M. Then we will pass the Moroccan coast and finally reach Spain. After that we fly over the Bay of Biscay and parts of France and Belgium, before landing on runway 06 in Schiphol. FL will be 37,000 feet.

Nice flying weather today.

PH-HZV is being loaded and we’re preparing this bird for this relatively long flight to the Netherlands.

On our way to runway 03.

This SAS MD-80 just landed. Appropriate, considering our next destination will be Bergen in Norway.

What a nice view at the holding point.

And ready to rock!
Photobucket

Rotate! Quite heavy this time.
Photobucket

Bye bye Canaries!

Into the clouds.

A last view onto Lanzarote.

We’ve reached our cruising FL.

And this was taken close to the Strait of Gibraltar.

Such a beautiful bird, the 737NG.

Busy airspace over France.

And during descent into Amsterdam. On my real flights we approached from the North-East both times, this time it is from the South-West.

The coast comes in sight.
Photobucket

Parallel now.

I had a couple of beers during this flight. You wouldn’t dare telling my employer, would you? Landing was safe and sound, but this explains why we are a little below VREF.

Nonetheless a good landing. The passengers didn’t complain.

Back on Dutch territory.

And we don’t have to go very far to the Transavia gates. On my real flights the taxi from the Polderbaan to the gate took almost 15 minutes.

Time to call it a day!

Thanks for reading today’s report. Next flight will be to Bergen, Norway on KLM B737-700.

  1. I love those cockpit shots, could look at them all day.

One sad thing about FSX is that EHAM runs like a dog (un flyable). However the NL2000 have made the rest of world of Dutch simply amazing! And fro free….

    • Thanks! It sucks that the new NL2000 version is FSX-only. I would love to have that in FS9. But I guess I could just drive to the Netherlands in reality, it’s just 20 minutes away… šŸ˜‰

    • That’s true! I can reach pretty much any European capital within 1.5 hrs flying distance. On the other hand, you have incredible landscape and nature around, that’s also very nice.
