Canary Island Hopping Vol.7: TUI 2262 – LPA to FUE

Another short hop fresh out of the sim. This time it was Tuifly flight 2262 from Gran Canaria to Fuerteventura, second largest island in the Canaries after Tenerife. Flight will be on B737-800 again. The flight continues on to Hannover in Germany, but we will stay in Fuerteventura.

ETD was 02:40 pm.

Again it was a direct flight using vectors from ATC. Take-off was on 03L, landing in FUE on 01R. Weather was nice.

The aircraft fills up quickly with PAX. We’re still busy preparing the flight deck.

Walk-around, everything looks fine. We’re not only in the Canary Islands, the livery of Tuifly also looks a bit like a canary…

Taxi to the runway. Just saw a few of those red Norwegian Air Shuttle 737NGs for real in Bergen last week. Gran Canaria seems to be a popular destination for them, even though I got myself a nice sunburn in Bergen. Being rain-capital of Europe that’s quite an achievement.

Like everywhere around here they have a nice variety of mountains on the island.

Lined up on 03L.

Cleared for take-off – Rock ‘n’ Roll!

No matter how often you fly, it’s always great to leave the ground and get that feeling when you climb into the skies.
Photobucket

We’ve already reached the coast.
Photobucket

FL for this very short hop will be 13,000 feet.
Photobucket

And it’s a little cloudy.

But as we’re closing in on Fuerteventura everything looks nice. Who doesn’t want to take a swim in this beautiful water?
Photobucket

You can definitely tell that this is not far away from Africa and the Western Sahara.

On the ILS. Since we’re coming in behind a Condor, we have to go relatively slow during final.
Photobucket

Nice weather, so time for hand-flying again!

Short final. Greased her onto the runway this time.

I hope they let me join the party. Only Air Berlin planes around here. You could get the impression that this is some sort of overseas-territory belonging to Germany.
Photobucket

I feel special in this company! Another Condor A320 coming in for landing in the background. Seems the Germans love Fuerteventura.
Photobucket

And I couldn’t resist. Nice contrast with the canary-yellow and the blue sky.

Thanks for taking the time to read this short report. Next flight will mark the end of our Island hopping tour. It will be from Fuerteventura to Lanzarote on B737-800 with Air Berlin. Then it’s time to fly back to Amsterdam.
